Detox

Don't think so highly of yourself.
Pushing someone to the ground does not make you
the bigger person.
You know, I blamed myself at first.
I tormented myself,
thinking of what I could have done
to help you. To save you.
But then I realized:
I did nothing wrong.
I supported you in your time of need.
I defended you when everyone else
turned against you.
I lost parts of myself
trying to keep you whole.
But they were right.
You played a good game,
pretending to be broken,
only to break
whoever tried to fix you.
A sociopath
who leeched my sanity
so you wouldn't feel alone.
Blaming everyone but yourself
for the damage you caused yourself.
Blaming me for the damage you caused me.
The burn marks I left on your floor are nothing
compared to the scars you left on my soul.
Cutting me out as soon as you felt
the smallest bit of guilt
when you realized you were wrong.
Slandering me to whomever was left
to listen to your psychotic drivel.
Satan was exiled from heaven
because of his pride.
You fled from me
because you couldn't handle the weight
of your own ego.
You were not worth
the tears I cried for you.
I realize that now.

And I deserve better.

  1. If you're an addict and you're wondering if you can die during drug detox, the short but honest answer is yes. However, deaths from detox and withdrawal are rare considering the number of addicts that undergo detox and the fact that many will detox and withdraw from substances a number of times in their life. However, the potential for life threatening complications during detox is frighteningly real for a small amount of people who are addicted to drugs or alcohol. detoxkuurnederland.nl
